Njeri Kirumbi oversees WaterEquity’s investments in financial institutions in Africa. She is responsible for identifying opportunities, conducting due diligence, structuring investment terms, and monitoring WaterEquity’s investment portfolio. She brings 10+ years of diverse experience in impact investing in Africa across various thematic funds, including climate change, financial inclusion, and education.   

Before joining WaterEquity, Njeri worked as a Deputy Regional Director of Africa at BlueOrchard Finance, managing a portfolio of investees across Africa, including holding companies, banks, microfinance institutions, leasing companies, fintech and remittance companies. Additionally, she managed a team of investment professionals and was in charge of implementing various investment fund strategies in the continent. Previously, Njeri was an Investment Officer with ResponsAbility Investments overseeing investments in the anglo-phone countries of Africa, specifically in microfinance and leasing companies.

Njeri received her Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the University of Nairobi and Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. In addition, she has completed Oxford Women’s Leadership Development Programme from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
